Finding a broadband internet service provider in UK

If you are looking for a broadband internet service provider, then you'll be happy to know that you won't have to look very far. Even if you don't have a BT line, I understand you can sign up for what is called mobile broadband. There are many types of companies that are offering broadband these days. Gone are the days when you could only get broadband internet from BT and other telephone companies. The fierce competition for customers has helped to drive the price down too. Some of the offers that are available today would have been unthinkable just a year ago. For example, a broadband package which comes complete with a free state of the art laptop.

The following are the type of companies that are offering broadband in the UK. There are others but these are the main ones:

1. Telephone Companies such as BT

2. Mobile Phone companies such as Orange, Vodafone, O2 and Three mobile.

3. Other media type companies such as Sky and Virgin Media

It doesn't really matter where you get your package from as long as you are happy with what you get. Shopping around is a good idea because it will open your eyes to what is on the market and what type of price range to expect. Don't just jump onto the first offer that you see. But do not waste too much time looking because, technology is changing very fast and you'll have to do the same shopping around again in a year or two. They'll be better offers which you won't want to miss out on.

Some people already realise this and switch their broadband internet service provider every few years. Sometimes you don't even have to switch, just call your provider and threaten to move. They upgrade you to a better deal for the same price or cheaper. Try it, you'll be amazed. But sometimes the offers from other companies are simply irresistible and you have no choice but to switch in order to get that free laptop or LCD TV.

If this is the first time you are signing up for broadband you would save some many and get a better deal if you tell the new provider that you are switching from another company and would like their best offer. It's worth a try.

Some companies will give you access to free broadband if you sign up for another service such as if you take up an offer for a contract mobile phone at a certain price per month. Before you get too excited and commit, read the small print to make sure that you won't get stuck with a bad deal. Also, determine whether you are really getting a better deal than with what you already have. If you go back to your current broadband internet service provider and tell them you're planning to move they may offer you a similar but better offer to make you stay.
